Water consumption recommendations for dry skin – hydrating from the inside and outside

If you often feel your skin is tight, taut, or dull, you are likely struggling with dryness.

One of the most important causes of dry skin is lack of moisture, and this should be addressed not only with creams but also with adequate fluid intake. Hydrating the skin actually starts from within.

Why is water so important?

Regular water consumption helps maintain the skin's natural elasticity and supports the proper functioning of cells. Experts generally recommend consuming at least 2–2.5 liters (about 8 glasses) of water daily, but this also depends on age, activity level, and weather conditions.

If you drink enough:

  • the skin will be smoother and plumper,

  • flaky skin and dullness will decrease,

  • and moisturizing products will work more effectively.

Tip: cucumber, watermelon, orange, or strawberry provide extra support for your skin due to their high water content.

External hydration, that is, the right cream is worth its weight in gold

Water alone is not enough; moisture must also be retained in the skin. A well-chosen moisturizer is essential for this.

Recommended Maruderm product:

Maruderm Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer

This cream is a true staple for dry skin:

  • thanks to its hyaluronic acid content, it deeply hydrates,

  • helps to bind water in the skin,

  • can be used on the face and body,

  • absorbs easily, does not stick.

Ideal for morning and evening, but you can also reapply it during the day if your skin feels tight.

Extra tip: if you want an even more intense effect, use a serum before moisturizing, for example:

Maruderm Hyaluronic Acid + Collagen Anti-Aging Face Serum, which hydrates the skin before the cream "seals" it.

Avoid hot showers!

A long, hot shower is pleasant, but:

  • it removes the skin's natural protective oils,

  • increases water loss,

  • dries out and makes the skin sensitive.

Instead, choose lukewarm water, then immediately apply moisturizer after towel drying, as the skin absorbs the active ingredients even better at this time.

Hydrating drinks, not just water matters

In addition to plain water, these also help:

  • coconut water

  • sugar-free herbal teas

  • green tea (antioxidant effect!)

These support the skin's hydration from within and also help in detoxification.

Eat healthy fats!

One of the foundations of the skin's protective layer is adequate fat intake. The following are particularly beneficial:

  • avocado

  • olive oil

  • nuts

  • salmon, mackerel (omega-3)

These help reduce skin inflammation and prevent flaking.

What to avoid: alcohol

Alcohol has a strong diuretic effect, meaning:

  • it dehydrates the body,

  • increases skin dryness,

  • accelerates the signs of aging.

If you want beautiful, plump skin, choose water, tea, or fresh fruit juices instead.

In summary: the best friends of dry skin

  • at least 2 liters of water daily
  • hydrating foods
  • appropriate moisturizer (e.g. Maruderm Hyaluronic Moisturizer)
  • lukewarm shower
  • healthy fats
  • exclusion of alcohol and very hot water

The best results always come from a combination of internal and external hydration, so the skin will not only be softer but also healthier, more elastic, and more radiant in the long run.
